What are the chin fillers?

Chin fillers are injectable treatments used to enhance the shape, size, and contour of the chin. These fillers, composed of hyaluronic acid, are injected directly into the chin area to add volume, correct asymmetries, improve facial harmony, and create a more balanced profile.

Chin fillers are a popular non-surgical option for those looking to achieve a more defined jawline, enhance a receding or weak chin, or adjust the overall proportions of the face without the need for invasive surgery. The procedure is relatively quick, requires minimal downtime, and the results can be seen immediately.

How do the chin dermal fillers work?

The chin dermal filler procedure involves carefully injecting hyaluronic acid into targeted areas of the chin to enhance volume, shape, and structure. This gel integrates with the body’s natural tissues, providing immediate volume and support to sculpt the desired chin contour and improve the jawline’s appearance.

Performed by skilled practitioners at Dr. Ducu Clinics London, this minimally invasive treatment is tailored to individual facial anatomy and cosmetic goals, ensuring a natural and proportionate enhancement with minimal downtime.

The chin filler procedure

1. Consultation

The chin filler procedure begins with a detailed consultation, where the practitioner at Dr. Ducu Clinics assesses your facial structure, discusses your Cosmetic & Medical goals, and determines the most appropriate type and amount of filler. This stage is crucial for understanding your expectations and crafting a personalised treatment plan.

2. Chin injections

During the actual treatment, the chin area is first cleaned and then, if necessary, a topical anaesthetic is applied to minimise discomfort. The dermal filler is then carefully injected into specific areas of the chin using a fine needle, with the practitioner moulding the filler to achieve the desired shape and volume.

3. Aftercare

Post-injection, you will be advised on aftercare practices to ensure optimal healing and results. This typically includes avoiding strenuous exercise, extreme heat, and pressure on the treated area for the first few days, along with recommendations for managing any swelling or bruising that may occur.

4. Results

Immediate improvements can be seen right after the treatment, with the full effect of the filler becoming more apparent after any swelling has subsided, usually within a few weeks. The results of chin fillers can last to a couple of years. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled to assess the outcomes and decide if additional treatments are needed to maintain or enhance the effects.

When are chin fillers recommended?

Chin fillers are recommended for you if you’re seeking to improve your facial proportions, enhance your profile, or correct a recessed or asymmetrical chin. They are a fantastic choice if you want a sharper jawline or a more balanced look without undergoing invasive surgery.

Before deciding on this treatment, consider your overall health, aesthetic goals, and expectations. It’s also crucial to ensure that your skin and underlying tissue are in good condition, as this can affect the outcome. Signs that you might benefit from chin fillers include a lack of definition in the lower face, a chin that appears smaller in relation to your other features, or a desire to create a more masculine or feminine profile. A consultation with an experienced practitioner at Dr. Ducu Clinics  will help assess your needs and ensure that this non-surgical solution is the best option for achieving your desired results.

Chin fillers - Frequently asked questions

Ideal candidates for chin fillers are individuals looking to enhance their facial structure, particularly those with a receding or weak chin, who seek a more defined and balanced profile. Opting for this non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment, ideal candidates are in good health, have realistic expectations about the outcomes, and desire improvements that, while not permanent, offer significant, long-lasting results.

They effectively improve chin projection, adding volume to a receding or weak chin, and sharpen the jawline for a more defined and structured appearance. These fillers are also adept at correcting asymmetries, smoothing out dimples or clefts, and restoring volume lost due to the natural aging process.

The effects of chin injections are typically visible immediately after the procedure, as the fillers provide instant volume and definition to the treated area. However, it might take a few days to fully appreciate the final outcome, as swelling and bruising can occur and need time to subside. The optimal results are generally evident within 1 to 2 weeks after the injections, once any initial swelling has diminished and the filler has settled into its proper place.

Each individual is different, but on average chin filler lasts 1 to 1.5 years (and sometimes longer).

Among the risks and side effects of the procedure include bruising, infection, swelling, pain, needle marks, acne like skin eruptions, skin sensitivity, erythema (skin redness) andasymmetry. These risks are usually temporary and solved on their own. If the asymmetry is not corrected on itsown, touch-ups may be required, with a risk of under/ over correction. The less likely risks include migration of filler, skin lumpiness, bleeding, visible tissue filler material, granulomas and unsatisfactory results. Some very unlikely risks are severe complications, damage to the deeper structures, leakage of filler material, skin necrosis, open or draining wounds, healing problems, allergic reactions, hypersensitivity, drug and local anaesthetic reactions, depigmentation, venous thrombosis (clot) and sequelae, fat/air embolism, persistent swelling (lymphedema), antibodies to fillers, accidental intra-arterial injection, scarring.

After the procedure the following activities are forbidden, for at least 3 weeks in most cases: manipulating the area(s) of injection, alcohol use, exposure to sun or other types of radiations, extreme temperatures (such as hot/cold showers, sauna, etc), using products for skin that are not recommended by the doctor for the area undergoing the procedure, makeup (may be not recommended for a period of time), any movements or actions of/on the area that can affect or traumatise the area (such as massaging the area, hitting, procedures or treatments on the area unless previously being assessed and deemed suitable by a healthcare practitioner).

There may be some swelling and bruising post procedure whichis a normal reaction, if any concerns please contact the Dr Ducu London team. We will always keep in contact with you to ensure you are well and for any enquires please feel free to contact us any time.
